Well, they ususally take some time and experience to really get them right, so I'd suggest finding some old pics or even new pics with vintage styles...taking the mag pics to your local haircutters and going to your local hair place to see how they do it exactly and then you can go home and do it yourself. My friend got that 1920s curl wave thing in the front of her hair done professionally at a place called the Paul Mitchell school in Costa Mesa for pretty cheap. I do nt' know where you live though.
