I like doing my hair in big curls and brushing it out with my fingers. Then i put the band. I leave bangs out and it is swept to the side, very 60's with a modern twist.

I like to use a thick or thin headband as a finishing touch to my hairstyle; this approach will make the overall look trendy not dowdy. You can either create a neat ponytail, a messy bun, a messy half-updo, then top it off with a haphazardly placed thin or thick headband. I also like the look of side-swept bangs placed in front of a thick headband, a la Nicole Ritchie. Generally, I prefer to only use a headband with an updo---with your hair down, the look it too 80's.
